History of the association of airport internal auditors
The Association of Airport Internal Auditors was suggested by two auditors:
Vernon Evans of the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and
Jean Wilson of the Orlando International Airport (MCO).
Questionnaires were sent to 24 airports to determine the need for an association and what would be valuable to airport auditors. Of the 24 contacted airports, 21 responded and the first organizational meeting was held April 21, 1989 at DFW Airport. The Association of Airport Internal Auditors was officially incorporated on July 27, 1989.
